Montreal Loves You Japan

Montreal loves was a one night art event initiated by members of Montreal’s art community, and held at the city’s imminent art space Ctrllab Montreal art house .

The main attraction was the raffle of 33 original artworks generously donated by prominent contemporary artists, including Govern Gerneral award winner Jamelie Hassan, and Sobey Award nominees, Patrick Bernatchez, Adad Hannah, Nadia Myre, and Jerome Havre. 33, $100 tickets were sold equaling the number of artists and therefore ensuring everyone went home with an artwork. As ticket was drawn, the ticket holder had one minute to choose an artwork from those remaining on the wall so it was very exciting as the raffle proceeded and people’s 1st choices may or may not have been already picked. It was a lot of fun.

Urban endurance walk in Tokyo supports quake victims

Here’s a nice review of our event from the Asahi Shimbun. We had 100 teams and 355 people competing on the day of the event. At the moment we have raised 1,018,000JPY for Oxfam Japan’s Tohoku relief which is absolutely fantastic!
What started as an idea between two people to grow as it has done is amazing. We will be holding another Tokyo Yamathon on Saturday 19th November and hopefully we will get even more people.

Big thank you to yourselves at National AJET for helping to promote our event. We had several JET and JETAA teams on the day. Hope you can join us again for our next event.
Next up will be sea-to-summit: The Ultimate Fuji Climb 2011( http://search.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/nn20100805f1.html ), arranged for Saturday 16th July.
